Banned Drug Maker Gets 7 Years Jail For Selling Spurious Antibiotics

Times of India · health

A banned pharmaceutical manufacturer has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for producing and distributing spurious antibiotics and substandard syrups. The court found that the company, Tecnomed, used a food license to sell these unsafe medicines across Madurai and Theni for months. Tests revealed that Nacomox antibiotic capsules contained significantly less declared amoxicillin and dicloxacillin than stated, alongside undeclared ingredients. Other syrups also failed quality standards, potentially reducing treatment effectiveness and posing risks to patients.
