ITAT Quashes Tax Notice Over Rs 5.2 Crore

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Delhi has quashed a tax notice issued to a grain trader. The trader had deposited Rs 5.2 crore in cash into his bank account while declaring an income of only Rs 7.65 lakh. The bank's report of the large cash deposit triggered scrutiny. The tax officer initially believed the trader failed to disclose his bank account in his Income Tax Return (ITR). However, the ITAT ruled in the trader's favour, stating the account was disclosed in Form 3CD, making the assessment order invalid.

दिल्ली में Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) ने एक अनाज व्यापारी को जारी टैक्स नोटिस रद्द कर दिया है। व्यापारी ने सिर्फ 7.65 लाख रुपये की आय घोषित करते हुए अपने बैंक खाते में 5.2 करोड़ रुपये नकद जमा किए थे। बड़ी नकद जमा राशि की बैंक की रिपोर्ट के बाद जांच शुरू हुई। टैक्स अधिकारी का शुरू में मानना था कि व्यापारी ने अपनी Income Tax Return (ITR) में अपना बैंक खाता नहीं बताया है। लेकिन, ITAT ने व्यापारी के पक्ष में फैसला सुनाया, यह कहते हुए कि खाता Form 3CD में बताया गया था, जिससे असेसमेंट ऑर्डर अमान्य हो गया।
