Kerala HC Overturns Order Allowing Suspended SFI Students To Write Exams
Hindustan Times · education
The Kerala High Court has overturned a single-judge bench's interim order that allowed 16 suspended Students Federation of India (SFI) members to appear for university examinations. The university had argued that the students lacked the required attendance and had not cleared internal exams. The students were suspended on August 13 after a protest involving a mock cremation of the vice chancellor. The court cited a 2017 ruling stating that disruptive activities in educational institutions can lead to expulsion or rustication, emphasizing that campuses are for education, not politics.
