Navratri begins, with the tradition of lighting an Akhand Jyoti, an unbroken lamp, for nine days. This practice is believed to dispel negative energy and invite positivity. Pure cow ghee is recommended for the lamp, though sesame or mustard oil can be used if it's tradition or ghee is unavailable. The lamp should be placed in the south-east direction, with the flame facing east or north. Avoid the south direction. If the lamp extinguishes, do not panic, as it is a common occurrence.
