An industrialist's manager allegedly procured 23 gold bars weighing 23 kg to protect his boss, R Veeramani, who was arrested in August for alleged sexual assault. The manager, Shaktivel, was arrested for transferring cash to influential people, with investigators probing if funds were used to shield Veeramani from police action. Veeramani, 84, faces seven cases under the POCSO Act. Police are also investigating financial advisor Prakash and the sale of Veeramani's properties worth over ₹70 crore, suspecting proceeds were used as bribes to hush up the case.
