सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली-एनसीआर में महिलाओं और बच्चों की सुरक्षा बेहतर करने के निर्देश दिए हैं। कोर्ट ने दिल्ली पुलिस से कहा है कि वे निवारक पुलिसिंग उपायों को प्रभावी ढंग से लागू करें। मुख्य निर्देशों में भेद्यता मैपिंग, गश्त बढ़ाना और सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर लाइटिंग व सीसीटीवी का ऑडिट शामिल है। कोर्ट ने अपराध की रोकथाम और कमजोर व्यक्तियों की सुरक्षा के लिए जिम्मेदारी तय करने पर जोर दिया है। दिल्ली पुलिस नेतृत्व को अब मौजूदा जनशक्ति की तैनाती का आकलन करना होगा और 14,140 रिक्तियों को रणनीतिक रूप से भरना होगा, खासकर कांस्टेबल से इंस्पेक्टर स्तर पर, ताकि सबसे ज्यादा जरूरत वाले क्षेत्रों में फील्ड पुलिसिंग बढ़ाई जा सके।
