The Supreme Court has indicated it will not impose a total ban on firecrackers during Diwali, nor allow unrestricted use. A bench stated that regulations must balance religious sentiments with pollution concerns. The court will decide specific usage hours after receiving a report from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on barium-based crackers. The ASG requested time until October 15 for the CPCB report. The court also seemed inclined to permit the manufacture of joint firecrackers under certain conditions.
