Power utilities have been instructed to prepare a comprehensive action plan to strengthen transmission and distribution networks to ensure uninterrupted power supply. This comes in anticipation of a sharp rise in energy consumption expected in the coming months due to El Nino. Officials were directed to expedite capacity augmentation at substations and feeders, and to plan for future demand over the next five to ten years. The focus also includes implementing dual-source power supply systems for critical consumers like data centres and IT parks.
