Kerala CM Defends Kannur Land Acquisitions Amidst KIIFB Fund Row

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly defended land acquisitions for development projects in Kannur under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). He rejected the Sudha Pillai committee report's finding that Kannur received a disproportionate share of KIIFB funds, questioning the selective concern over development in the district. Vijayan argued that Kannur's proximity to its airport made it suitable for projects, unlike other regions where land was scarce near airports. He also stated that compensation was determined by government procedures and landowners could seek legal recourse if dissatisfied.

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री पिनराई विजयन ने Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) के तहत कन्नूर में विकास परियोजनाओं के लिए भूमि अधिग्रहण का पुरजोर बचाव किया है। उन्होंने सुदा पिल्लई समिति की रिपोर्ट के उस निष्कर्ष को खारिज कर दिया जिसमें कहा गया था कि कन्नूर को KIIFB फंड का अनुचित हिस्सा मिला, और जिले में विकास को लेकर चुनिंदा चिंता पर सवाल उठाया। विजयन ने तर्क दिया कि कन्नूर का हवाई अड्डे से निकटता इसे परियोजनाओं के लिए उपयुक्त बनाती है, जबकि अन्य क्षेत्रों में हवाई अड्डों के पास भूमि की कमी थी। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मुआवजा सरकारी प्रक्रियाओं द्वारा तय किया गया था और असंतुष्ट होने पर भू-स्वामी कानूनी सहारा ले सकते थे।
