Giannis Antetokounmpo's Foundation Transforms Discarded Fishing Gear Into Basketball Nets

The Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation (CAFF) has partnered with marine-cleanup organisation Enaleia to repurpose discarded fishing gear into new basketball nets. This initiative, supported by the Municipality of Athens, saw 80 worn-out nets on public courts replaced with ones made from recycled materials. The project addresses marine pollution by giving discarded fishing equipment a second life, turning an environmental problem into a visible, usable resource for local communities. The new nets have been installed across various neighbourhoods in Athens, benefiting young players and residents.
