Nagpur Drought Declared, Dams At Low

Drought has been declared in all 14 talukas of Nagpur district due to rainfall deficiency and dry spells. Water storage in five major reservoirs has shrunk significantly, now holding 884.97 million cubic metres, which is 61.03% of capacity. This is a sharp decline from nearly full storage last year. The Totladoh reservoir, a key component of the Pench system, is only 55.34% full. With 65,000 hectares of farmland dependent on irrigation, balancing water needs for agriculture, drinking, and industry presents a significant challenge for the administration.

बारिश की कमी और सूखे की वजह से नागपुर जिले की सभी 14 तहसीलों में सूखा घोषित कर दिया गया है। पांच प्रमुख जलाशयों में पानी का भंडार काफी कम हो गया है, जो अब 884.97 मिलियन क्यूबिक मीटर है, यानी क्षमता का 61.03%। यह पिछले साल की लगभग भरी क्षमता से एक बड़ी गिरावट है। पेंच सिस्टम का एक अहम हिस्सा, टोटलाडोह जलाशय, केवल 55.34% भरा हुआ है। सिंचाई पर निर्भर 65,000 हेक्टेयर कृषि भूमि के साथ, प्रशासन के लिए खेती, पीने और उद्योगों की पानी की जरूरतों को संतुलित करना एक बड़ी चुनौती है।
