Times of India · environment

A retired 180-foot fishing vessel, the F/V Calcasieu Pass, was deliberately sunk off Delaware's coast on August 12, 2026, to establish a new artificial reef. Transferred for a nominal $1 fee, the vessel was prepared and sunk by Coleen Marine at Delaware Reef Site 13, approximately 26 miles offshore. The initiative aims to provide marine habitats for biodiversity and create new recreational diving spots.
