Calcutta HC Upholds Rape-Murder Conviction, Awards Rs 4 Lakh Compensation

The Calcutta High Court has upheld the life sentence for Yeasin Sk, convicted of the 2009 rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl. The court observed that a witness's relationship to the victim is not grounds for disbelief. The bench also directed the state to pay Rs 4 lakh in compensation to the victim's parents within seven days, with the state allowed to recover the amount from the convict. The incident involved the girl being kidnapped, raped, and murdered in a Murshidabad mango orchard.

कलकत्ता हाईकोर्ट ने 11 साल की बच्ची के 2009 के बलात्कार और हत्या के मामले में दोषी येआसिन स्क को उम्रकैद की सज़ा बरकरार रखी है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि गवाह का पीड़ित से रिश्ता होने के कारण उस पर शक नहीं किया जा सकता। बेंच ने राज्य सरकार को सात दिनों के अंदर पीड़ित के माता-पिता को 4 लाख रुपये मुआवज़ा देने का भी निर्देश दिया, और राज्य को दोषी से यह रकम वसूलने की इजाज़त दी। यह घटना मुर्शिदाबाद के एक आम के बाग में हुई थी, जहाँ बच्ची का अपहरण, बलात्कार और हत्या कर दी गई थी।
