RBI to Cover Daily Dollar Needs of 3 Oil Firms
Economic Times · stocks
The Reserve Bank of India will meet the entire daily dollar requirements for Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum starting October 12. This move aims to ease pressure on the rupee by removing a significant source of dollar demand from the foreign exchange market. The three state-run companies could require approximately $200 million daily for crude and petroleum imports. The RBI will sell dollars to these firms through designated banks at prevailing market rates, preventing them from competing in the spot market.
