An accused in the murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector Harjit Singh was killed in a police encounter in Amritsar on Saturday night. Deepak Singh, identified as one of the two motorcycle-borne assailants, was shot by police during an exchange of fire. Police used CCTV footage and technical inputs to track the suspects. The second accused managed to escape, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. Authorities recovered a pistol and ammunition from the scene.
