A Gurgaon property dealer allegedly faked an extortion threat from a US-based gangster to obtain police security. Dharmendra arranged for threatening messages to be sent to his phone from a US number, claiming he was targeted by a notorious gangster. Police provided him with a security detail of four to five personnel for several weeks. The deception was uncovered when investigators traced the number and discovered the boy in the US had sent the messages at Dharmendra's request. He admitted to orchestrating the plot to secure protection amid property disputes.
