Gujarat Human Rights Commission Hearings Stalled Due To Vacant Posts
Times of India · india
Hearings before the Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) have been stalled for over a month due to vacant posts of chairperson and member. The terms of Justice (retd) K J Thaker and B S Upadhyay ended in September, with no replacements appointed. The commission has informed applicants that scheduled hearings are adjourned until new appointments are made. This halt affects the functioning of SHRC's two courts, which collectively hear approximately 100 cases monthly, impacting citizens seeking redress for human rights violations.
