Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara has estimated drought-related losses in the state to be between ₹60,000 crore and ₹70,000 crore. While the full loss estimation is ongoing, preliminary figures indicate significant devastation. The state has previously submitted two memoranda to the central government seeking approximately ₹46,000 crore in drought assistance. Despite the high estimated losses, central assistance is calculated based on NDRF parameters, leading the state to seek between ₹18,000 crore and ₹20,000 crore this time.
