Adyar Residents Survey Neighbourhood Trees To Assess Green Cover

Residents of Adyar's Gandhi Nagar are participating in a weekend initiative to survey their neighbourhood's green cover. Led by the non-profit Nizhal, the survey meticulously records tree types, dimensions, and any damage, such as cables or concrete around roots. Participants receive orientation on assessing tree age. This is the second such survey in the area, with the previous one in 2019 identifying around 65 tree species. The collected data will be submitted to government authorities to aid in strategizing future tree planting efforts and increasing the city's green cover.
