A high-level team of officials, including the Land Revenue Commissioner and Idukki District Collector, inspected encroachment-hit areas around the Anayirankal dam and 301 Colony in Chinnakkanal. The inspection followed a Forest department report detailing large-scale encroachment on government land, including illegal structures and tourist facilities within the dam's catchment area. Officials noted that these encroachments obstruct vital elephant passages and pose a severe safety hazard, potentially leading to human-wildlife conflicts.

भूमि राजस्व आयुक्त और इडुक्की जिला कलेक्टर सहित अधिकारियों की एक उच्च-स्तरीय टीम ने अनायिरंगल बांध और चिन्नकनाल में 301 कॉलोनी के आसपास अतिक्रमण से प्रभावित क्षेत्रों का निरीक्षण किया। यह निरीक्षण वन विभाग की एक रिपोर्ट के बाद हुआ जिसमें बांध के जल ग्रहण क्षेत्र के भीतर अवैध ढांचों और पर्यटक सुविधाओं सहित सरकारी भूमि पर बड़े पैमाने पर अतिक्रमण का विवरण दिया गया था। अधिकारियों ने नोट किया कि ये अतिक्रमण महत्वपूर्ण हाथी मार्गों में बाधा डालते हैं और गंभीर सुरक्षा खतरा पैदा करते हैं, जिससे मानव-वन्यजीव संघर्ष हो सकता है।
