Hindustan Times · environment

Clint and Maggie Eastwood donated 128 acres of land along California's Carmel River to the Big Sur Land Trust. The 2016 gift of 79 acres, combined with a previous 49-acre donation, is a key part of the Carmel River Floodplain Restoration and Environmental Enhancement Project. This initiative aims to reconnect the river with its floodplain to improve flood management and restore wildlife habitats. The project is expected to reduce the need for extensive levee improvements, potentially saving Monterey County millions in flood-control costs.
