Scientists Explain Why We Forget Entering Rooms
Hindustan Times · science
Researchers have explored the common experience of entering a room and forgetting why you went there, a phenomenon known as the 'doorway effect'. Studies suggest that moving between different locations can act as an 'event boundary', causing the brain to update its context. This shift can make recent intentions temporarily less accessible. While a 2014 study found imagining crossing a doorway caused forgetting, later research indicates context changes and mental load may be more significant than the physical doorway itself.
