Delhi Police Detain Left Leaders Including Pinarayi Vijayan Ahead of Protest March

Delhi Police detained several prominent Left leaders, including former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI(M) General Secretary M.A Baby, and senior leader Brinda Karat, on Saturday. The detentions occurred ahead of a planned march to Jantar Mantar. The leaders were reportedly heading to a protest where India was set to demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. Video footage showed M.A Baby being taken into a police bus. The CPI(M) stated their defiance despite the police action.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने शनिवार को पूर्व केरल मुख्यमंत्री पिनाराई विजयन, CPI(M) महासचिव एम.ए. बेबी और वरिष्ठ नेता वृंदा करात सहित कई प्रमुख वाम नेताओं को हिरासत में लिया। यह हिरासत जंतर मंतर तक नियोजित मार्च से पहले हुई। नेताओं को कथित तौर पर एक विरोध प्रदर्शन में ले जाया जा रहा था जहाँ भारत ज्ञान प्रकाश कुमार के इस्तीफे की मांग करने वाला था। वीडियो फुटेज में एम.ए. बेबी को पुलिस बस में ले जाते हुए दिखाया गया। CPI(M) ने पुलिस कार्रवाई के बावजूद अपनी अवज्ञा बताई।
