Television producer Ekta Kapoor has revealed that 2008 was the most difficult year of her professional career, stating that nothing went her way and it changed her perspective on creativity. She also identified 2021-22 as the toughest period for her mental health, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and witnessing numerous deaths. Kapoor described grappling with a unique form of postpartum experience while becoming a mother during this time. The immense loss and emotional toll made it her worst year mentally.
