Shiv Sena corporator Meenakshi Shinde resigned as Thane district chief of the party’s women’s wing on Thursday. Her resignation comes amid allegations by the family of murdered Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar, who named Shinde and her husband as alleged masterminds. Shinde cited displeasure over targeting of the deputy chief minister in her resignation letter. The opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) has intensified its attack, questioning the investigation and meeting the victim's family. Police have questioned the Shinde couple.

शिवसेना की कॉर्पोरेटर मीनाक्षी शिंदे ने गुरुवार को पार्टी की महिला विंग की ठाणे जिला प्रमुख के पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया। उनका इस्तीफा हत्या के शिकार शिवसेना (यूबीटी) नेता प्रदीप पूर्णकर के परिवार द्वारा लगाए गए आरोपों के बीच आया है, जिन्होंने शिंदे और उनके पति को कथित तौर पर मुख्य साजिशकर्ता बताया था। शिंदे ने अपने इस्तीफे में उपमुख्यमंत्री को निशाना बनाए जाने पर नाराजगी जताई थी। विपक्षी शिवसेना (यूबीटी) ने जांच पर सवाल उठाते हुए और पीड़ित के परिवार से मिलकर अपना हमला तेज कर दिया है। पुलिस ने शिंदे दंपति से पूछताछ की है।
