China Navy Accuses US Ship of Jeopardising Maritime Security Near Sabina Shoal

China's Southern Theater Command Navy has accused a U.S. littoral combat ship, the USS Charleston, of jeopardising maritime security by illegally entering waters near Sabina Shoal. The Chinese Navy stated that the U.S. action infringes on China's sovereign rights and is detrimental to regional peace and stability. Both China and the Philippines, which has a mutual defence treaty with the U.S., contest sovereignty over Sabina Shoal and the Spratly Islands archipelago. The U.S. Navy has not yet responded to the allegations.
