Times of India · world
Russia has dismissed reports of a second suspected plague case in Siberia as false information, following a request for clarification from the World Health Organization. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated the organization needs more information to assess the situation, particularly regarding the death of a researcher at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute. Russian authorities maintain the researcher died of pneumonia of unknown cause and that there is no epidemic risk. The WHO is seeking details on both the initial death and the reported second case.
