News18 Hindi · india
The Election Commission of India has reversed its decision to include a SIR declaration in the online version of voter registration Form 6. This controversial column, which required applicants to declare their previous voter list status, had been deemed unauthorized and illegal by Election Commissioner Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. Commissioner Vivek Joshi had also raised concerns about adding new conditions without rule changes. The commission has now separated the SIR declaration from Form 6, aligning online applications with the two-part paper process.
