Ludhiana Garbage Dump Cleanup Stalled Due To Transformer Fire, Theft

Bioremediation work at Ludhiana's Jamalpur garbage dump has been stalled for a month after a transformer caught fire, disrupting Phase II of the project. Machines are lying idle, and officials cite the transformer fire, theft of machine parts, lack of infrastructure, and the rainy season as reasons for the slow pace. The project, aimed at clearing 20 lakh tonnes of waste, has a deadline of December 2027. The private firm has also not received any payment from the Municipal Corporation so far.
