FSSAI to implement food warning labels

After eight years and a Supreme Court ultimatum, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will implement front-of-pack warning labels on packaged foods in a single phase. The regulator has four months to finalize rules, with companies getting a year to clear existing stock. This move comes amid rising lifestyle diseases like obesity and diabetes in India. The labels will warn about high sugar, fat, and salt content, promoting informed.

आठ साल बाद और सुप्रीम कोर्ट की चेतावनी के बाद, FSSAI अब एक ही चरण में पैक्ड खाने की चीज़ों पर फ्रंट-ऑफ-पैक चेतावनी लेबल लागू करेगा। नियमों को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए रेगुलेटर के पास चार महीने हैं, और कंपनियों को मौजूदा स्टॉक खत्म करने के लिए एक साल मिलेगा। यह कदम भारत में मोटापे और मधुमेह जैसी जीवनशैली की बीमारियों के बढ़ते मामलों के बीच उठाया गया है।
