Gurmmeet Singh, director of the 'Mirzapur' franchise, expressed amazement at the box office success of vastly different films like 'Mirzapur: The Movie' and 'Hanuman Ansh'. He believes this demonstrates that audiences will fill theatres for any film they genuinely enjoy, regardless of genre. Singh noted that the idea for a theatrical 'Mirzapur' was discussed since 2019, with producer Ritesh Sidhwani consistently advocating for it. The overwhelming audience response to 'Mirzapur: The Movie' exceeded the team's expectations, validating the communal cinema experience potential first observed at the MAMI festival in 2018.
