Sea Turtle Season Nears With Awareness Drives For Fishermen

Tamil Nadu's sea turtle season, running from November to May, is set to begin with the state government initiating preparations. Forest department officials are coordinating inter-departmental meetings with fisheries, coastal security, and local bodies to ensure conservation efforts. Fishermen will be educated on using trawlers cautiously, maintaining a buffer zone from the coast, and mandatorily using turtle-excluder devices. Environmental groups will also participate in beach clean-up activities as part of the pre-season preparations.
