Arunachal Youth Body Demands Withdrawal of Forces From Siang Belt

A tribal youth body in Arunachal Pradesh has demanded the withdrawal of security forces deployed to quell protests against the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. The All Adi Youth Association condemned clashes between protestors and security personnel, stating that the militarisation of the Siang river belt raises law-and-order concerns. The association rejected the government's claim that most affected families favour the project's pre-feasibility report. They allege that consultations were conducted selectively and demand the revocation of suspensions for village chiefs who participated in protests.
