The Tiruvannamalai Corporation has installed specially designed steel bins in key locations like the new bus terminus and Girivalam Path to collect PET bottles and prevent open dumping. Each bin can hold approximately 300 kg of plastic waste. This initiative, part of the 'Clean Tiruvannamalai' campaign, aims to stop waste from entering water bodies and storm drains. Officials hope this will cultivate better waste disposal habits among the town's residents and the estimated 1.5 lakh daily visitors, contributing to a cleaner environment.

तिरुवनमलाई निगम ने खुले में कचरा फेंकने से रोकने और पीईटी बोतलों को इकट्ठा करने के लिए नए बस स्टैंड और गिरिवालम पथ जैसे प्रमुख स्थानों पर विशेष रूप से डिज़ाइन किए गए स्टील के डिब्बे लगाए हैं। प्रत्येक डिब्बे में लगभग 300 किलोग्राम प्लास्टिक कचरा आ सकता है। 'क्लीन तिरुवनमलाई' अभियान के तहत की गई इस पहल का उद्देश्य जल निकायों और तूफान नालियों में कचरा जाने से रोकना है। अधिकारियों को उम्मीद है कि इससे शहर के निवासियों और प्रतिदिन आने वाले अनुमानित 1.5 लाख आगंतुकों में कचरा निपटान की बेहतर आदतें विकसित होंगी, जिससे एक स्वच्छ वातावरण बनेगा।
