India OK With Peaceful Khalistan Stir, Envoy Tells Canada

India's High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh Patnaik, stated that New Delhi has no objection to peaceful advocacy and protests for Khalistan. He clarified that while political support for the movement is acceptable, it must not involve negativity, terrorism, organised crime, or extortion. Patnaik urged Canada to recognise that such activities occur on its soil. This comes ahead of a Khalistan referendum planned for Alberta and follows a period of diplomatic tension that has since normalised, with both nations discussing a trade deal and enhancing security cooperation.

कनाडा में भारत के उच्चायुक्त दिनेश पटनायक ने कहा कि नई दिल्ली को खालिस्तान के लिए शांतिपूर्ण वकालत और विरोध प्रदर्शनों से कोई आपत्ति नहीं है। उन्होंने साफ किया कि आंदोलन के लिए राजनीतिक समर्थन स्वीकार्य है, लेकिन इसमें नकारात्मकता, आतंकवाद, संगठित अपराध या जबरन वसूली शामिल नहीं होनी चाहिए। पटनायक ने कनाडा से यह पहचानने का आग्रह किया कि ऐसी गतिविधियाँ उसके अपने देश में हो रही हैं। यह अल्बर्टा के लिए नियोजित खालिस्तान जनमत संग्रह से पहले आया है और राजनयिक तनाव की अवधि के बाद हुआ है जो अब सामान्य हो गया है, दोनों देश व्यापार सौदे पर चर्चा कर रहे हैं और सुरक्षा सहयोग बढ़ा रहे हैं।
