उत्तर प्रदेश के सुल्तानपुर की एक विशेष MP-MLA अदालत ने कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी को मानहानि के मामले में बरी कर दिया है। यह मामला कर्नाटक विधानसभा चुनावों के दौरान तत्कालीन भाजपा राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष अमित शाह के बारे में कथित आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी से जुड़ा था। शिकायतकर्ता पक्ष ने कहा है कि वे अदालत के फैसले को उच्च न्यायालय में चुनौती देंगे। उनके वकील ने बताया कि अदालत ने गांधी के बयान की ऑडियो सीडी को प्रामाणिक माना लेकिन बयान को मानहानिकारक नहीं माना, जिससे शिकायत दर्ज करने के अधिकार पर सवाल खड़े हो गए हैं।
