Bombay HC Denies Bail in Granddaughter's Murder

The Bombay High Court has denied bail to a man accused of killing his one-month-old granddaughter. The court noted it was unfortunate that despite 80 years of independence, a preference for male children persists. The infant was allegedly drowned because the family did not want a second girl child. The accused, Gopinath Janku Pradhan, was arrested in 2023 in Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने एक महीने की पोती की हत्या के आरोपी व्यक्ति को जमानत देने से इनकार कर दिया है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि यह दुख की बात है कि आजादी के 80 साल बाद भी लड़के को प्राथमिकता दी जाती है। बच्ची को कथित तौर पर इसलिए डुबो दिया गया क्योंकि परिवार दूसरी लड़की नहीं चाहता था। आरोपी गोपीनाथ जानकू प्रधान को 2023 में महाराष्ट्र के गढ़चिरौली जिले में गिरफ्तार किया गया था।
