Indian Rupee Little Changed This Week Amidst Oil Price Surge

The Indian rupee ended the week largely unchanged against the US dollar, experiencing a second consecutive session of decline on Friday. Surging oil prices, driven by attacks in Saudi Arabia, spurred risk aversion and erased early week gains. Despite easing expectations of further US rate hikes, the rupee's performance was impacted by elevated energy prices and concerns over inflation. Residual flows from the Jio Platforms IPO also played a role, with importers stepping up dollar purchases after the currency had reached a six-week high.

अमेरिकी डॉलर के मुकाबले भारतीय रुपया इस हफ़्ते ज़्यादातर अपरिवर्तित रहा, शुक्रवार को लगातार दूसरे सत्र में गिरावट देखी गई। सऊदी अरब में हमलों से प्रेरित तेल की बढ़ती कीमतों ने जोखिम से बचने की प्रवृत्ति को बढ़ावा दिया और हफ़्ते की शुरुआत की बढ़त को ख़त्म कर दिया। अमेरिकी ब्याज दरों में और बढ़ोतरी की उम्मीदें कम होने के बावजूद, रुपये के प्रदर्शन पर ऊर्जा की ऊंची कीमतों और महंगाई की चिंताओं का असर पड़ा। Jio Platforms IPO से बचे हुए फ़्लो ने भी भूमिका निभाई, क्योंकि मुद्रा छह हफ़्ते के उच्च स्तर पर पहुँचने के बाद आयातकों ने डॉलर की ख़रीद बढ़ा दी।
