Palamu Tiger Reserve on High Alert to Prevent Owl Poaching Ahead of Diwali

The Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) has intensified surveillance to prevent the poaching of owls ahead of Diwali. Owls are targeted due to superstitions linking them to wealth and prosperity, and for use in occult rituals. Forest officials have instructed guards to maintain strict vigilance, with special attention paid to individuals carrying slingshots. Eight check posts in the south division are conducting intensified inspections of visitors and their belongings. Hunting or trading owls is a punishable offense under the Wildlife Protection Act.

पलामू टाइगर रिजर्व (PTR) ने दिवाली से पहले उल्लू की तस्करी रोकने के लिए निगरानी तेज कर दी है। अंधविश्वासों के कारण उल्लू को निशाना बनाया जाता है, जो उन्हें धन और समृद्धि से जोड़ते हैं, और तांत्रिक अनुष्ठानों में उनके उपयोग के लिए भी। वन अधिकारियों ने गार्डों को कड़ी निगरानी रखने का निर्देश दिया है, खासकर गुलेल ले जाने वाले व्यक्तियों पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जा रहा है। दक्षिण डिवीजन में आठ चेक पोस्ट आगंतुकों और उनके सामान की गहन जांच कर रहे हैं। वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम के तहत उल्लू का शिकार करना या व्यापार करना दंडनीय अपराध है।
