India Amends Rules to Differentiate Connecting Flights From Hub-and-Spoke

Hindustan Times · india

India's central government has revised procedures to distinguish interline and codeshare flights from the hub-and-spoke model, following an immigration lapse at Delhi airport in September. Under the new rules, second boarding passes for interline and codeshare passengers will be issued at connecting airports after immigration, not at the originating airport. Baggage will still be checked in at the originating airport for the entire journey. This change aims to prevent future security breaches, such as the incident where three Italian passengers bypassed immigration after arriving from Amritsar.
