Tamil Nadu will soon equip all 4,048 TASMAC liquor outlets with reverse vending machines (RVMs) for returning empty bottles. Consumers can return bottles at any outlet statewide, regardless of purchase location. The tendering process for these machines is expected to conclude within 20 days. Minister K. Vignesh stated this initiative aims to streamline bottle collection and enhance transparency, addressing past discrepancies in accounting for returned bottles and funds. The government has also warned employees against disruptions, with some already facing action.
