India's central cabinet has approved the strategic restructuring and sale of IDBI Bank. The government and LIC will jointly sell their 60.72% stake to Canada's Fairfax Financial Holdings for ₹52,877 crore. This marks India's largest strategic disinvestment deal to date, surpassing Air India. Following the transaction, the government will retain 15% and LIC 19% of the bank's shares. This deal is poised to be the largest foreign direct investment in India's financial sector.
