Motorists in Bhopal are increasingly tampering with high-security registration plates to avoid detection by Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) cameras and subsequent e-challans. Tactics include bending plates, covering digits with tape or stickers, or smudging them with mud. This evasion is particularly common among two-wheeler riders who also flout other traffic rules. Authorities are conducting roadside checks and imposing heavy penalties for obscured or altered plates, warning that such actions can also be considered fraud and lead to strict consequences.
