In Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, 46-year-old Kailash Patel is observing a unique penance during the Shardiya Navratri. For the past 13 years, he has been worshipping the Goddess at home during Navratri. This year, he has vowed to meditate for nine days lying on a bed of sharp nails, abstaining from food and water and maintaining silence. He has also sown barley sprouts on his body. His unusual devotion has drawn significant attention from locals.

मध्य प्रदेश के रीवा में 46 साल के कैलाश पटेल शारदीय नवरात्रि के दौरान एक अनोखी तपस्या कर रहे हैं। पिछले 13 सालों से वे नवरात्रि में घर पर देवी की पूजा करते आ रहे हैं। इस साल उन्होंने नौ दिनों तक नुकीले कीलों के बिस्तर पर लेटकर, बिना खाए-पीए और मौन रहकर ध्यान करने का संकल्प लिया है। उन्होंने अपने शरीर पर जौ के अंकुर भी बोए हैं। उनकी इस अनोखी भक्ति ने स्थानीय लोगों का काफी ध्यान खींचा है।
