Meta, Google, TikTok Sue California Over Child Social Media Law

Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, has joined Google and TikTok in filing lawsuits against California's new restrictions for users under 16. The law, signed in September, targets features like personalized recommendations and autoplay videos that could encourage compulsive use. The tech giants argue these restrictions violate their First Amendment rights to free speech and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. This legal challenge follows Meta's August agreement to pay up to $18 billion to settle claims regarding teen social media addiction.
