Ghaziabad Transporters Seek Road Tax Cut On Light Goods Vehicles

Transporters in Ghaziabad are requesting a reduction in the one-time road tax for light goods vehicles weighing up to 7,500 kg. The current tax is levied for 15 years, despite diesel vehicles being restricted to a 10-year operational life in the NCR. This discrepancy means owners pay for five years of non-operation. The Ghaziabad Mahanagar Goods Transport Welfare Association has formally submitted this grievance. The local RTO department has forwarded the request to the transport commissioner in Lucknow for a decision on the matter.
