Sudan Displaced Face Ruined Homes and Financial Ruin Upon Return
Al Jazeera · world
Millions of Sudanese are returning to their homes after displacement due to the ongoing conflict between the SAF and RSF. However, many find their houses destroyed, looted, and uninhabitable, forcing them to live in rented accommodations or sleep on floors. The depreciation of the Sudanese pound has severely impacted their finances, reducing business capital and making repairs unaffordable. Access to basic services like water, electricity, and healthcare remains a significant challenge for these returnees.
