The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets worth ₹2,032.81 crore belonging to Reliance Power Limited under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The confiscated assets include bank balances and shareholding in Sasan Power Ltd. This action stems from an investigation into write-offs aggregating ₹2,101.46 crore made by Reliance Power related to overseas investments. The ED alleges that funds raised through Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds in 2006 were invested in a Singapore subsidiary and subsequently used for alleged round-tripping of funds.
