A senior UAE official has labelled the attack aboard flydubai flight FZ1073 a "terrorist act" and lauded Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his bravery. Machchhar was seriously injured during the September 30 incident while flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The aircraft was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after a confrontation in the cockpit. Passengers and crew intervened, ensuring the safe landing of the plane carrying 174 passengers and eight crew members. The official stressed the need for vigilance against extremism and terrorism.
