The Kerala Assembly has passed a historic resolution questioning the Election Commission of India's 'SIR of voter lists. The resolution, supported by 137 out of 140 members, demands the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner and the re-inclusion of "eligible voters" removed during the SIR. This move by the ruling Congress-led UDF has drawn criticism from the BJP, which accuses the party of "deceptive politics" given their recent electoral victory. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had previously acknowledged the SIR might have aided their March election win.
